New for 2016: London's Latest Michelin Starred Restaurants

As we enter a new year, check out our blog on who made the cut and got themselves a Michelin Star, or two! Offering exquisite dining in elegant surroundings, these restaurants should undoubtedly be on your 2016 dining bucket list, whether you’re looking to impress clients, friends or even just as a personal treat!  

Araki - Mayfair   2 Michelin Stars

Before moving his restaurant to London, Mitshuiro Araki already boasted a dining experience with 3 Michelin Stars to its name. Now based in London, Araki is continuing to dazzle guests with what it has to offer. Described by Nicholas Lander in the FT as: “remarkable, and not just for the ingredients”.  

Umu – Mayfair 2 Michelin Stars

Having now been open for over a decade, Umu is a key feature in the Mayfair landscape. Chef Yoshinori Ishii learned his trade working in the three Michelin Starred restaurant, Kyoto Kitcho in Japan and has spent time working with British fishermen, teaching them specialist Japanese techniques, such as ‘ike jime’, it’s from this he believes that when it comes to seafood, Umu offers a quality unique to the restaurant.  

Bonham’s – Mayfair 1 Michelin Star

Located upstairs at Bonham’s auction house, this restaurant has been pleasing its diners since it opened at the tail end of 2014, with its dishes beautifully matched with one of the best wine lists in London.  

The Goring – Mayfair 1 Michelin Star

As one of London’s most traditional dining experiences, when visiting The Goring, expect classic dishes, made with impeccably sourced British ingredients and served with panache! 

Lyle’s – Shoreditch 1 Michelin Star

Known for its regularly changing menu, with a heavy emphasis on seasonal and foraged ingredients, Lyle’s attracts food world heavyweights to its dining room in droves.  

Portland – Fitzrovia 1 Michelin Star

As the newest restaurant on the list, Portland comes from the same people behind the Quality Chop House. Since opening its doors in January, Portland has enjoyed great reviews, getting a perfect ten from The Sunday Times’ Restaurant Reviewer, AA Gill, who raved: “This is all of the best of modern eating, with the nonsense, pretension and snobbery left out”.
