Meet the Team: Sarah Talbot
29 July 2019
For the latest instalment in our Meet the Team series we caught up with one of Inconnection's longest-standing employees – Internal Operations Manager, Sarah Talbot. We talked Jimmy Carr, the London Comedy Lunch, rewards platforms & more...
Can you tell us about your job here at Inconnection? What does a normal day look like for you?
As Internal Operations Manager I handle internal operations and office management for the business. I also manage our rewards platform and organise prize management incentives for our clients within the IT Channel, Automotive and Telecom sectors. I am also involved in our annual London Comedy Lunch, which is coming up later in the year.
Sounds interesting, and very varied! What exactly is a Rewards Platform?
It is! A rewards platform is essentially a points banking system but it can be customised and upgraded to suit pretty much any business. For example, points might be awarded for reaching sales targets, or they can be earnt through peer recognition or customer referrals. Whatever the main objectives of the business or department, the rewards platform can be built with that in mind which is great.
What would you say the biggest benefit of a structured rewards platform is?
We’ve found that having a structured rewards programme like MyRewards really motivates and engages employees because they can track their own progress and the prizes act as huge incentives.
Some of the modules like peer recognition also work really well to motivate staff too, we often under estimate how much things like that are appreciated!
What sort of rewards/prizes can be included in a programme?
All sorts of things really! We have a huge prize catalogue full of experiences, tech prizes and even high-street vouchers. There’s also the option to combine MyRewards with an incentive trip, for example the prize could be a trip to Barcelona. Big prizes like this work really well as sales incentives.
You also mentioned the London Comedy Lunch, Inconnection’s flagship annual event. How are preparations going for this year?
Yes, it’s going to be our 9th year! The line up includes Jimmy Carr as the headliner and Tom Stade and Ed Gamble as support and compere so tickets are almost sold out which is exciting.
What can guests expect from this year’s event?
As previous years, the event takes place in the afternoon with guests arriving from 11.30am onwards. They’ll enjoy a sit-down lunch with their guests and of course some fantastic comedy.
Most of our guests attend to develop relationships and celebrate before Christmas – it has become an annual event for leading sales and IT companies who attend year after year. I am particularly looking forward to watching Tom Stade, he is the funniest guy I have seen and has a great presence.
What do you think will be the most memorable thing guests take away from the evening?
As Jimmy Carr was highly requested as this year’s headliner, I’d have to predict that for most people that will be the most memorable part of the evening. He’s such a big name and his UK tour has sold out so we think people will really enjoy the opportunity to see him live.
I think it’s a great time of year for building relationships and celebrating with business colleagues, it’s a real fun event, everyone has a laugh – and of course it’s Christmas!
