Events Industry Given the Go Ahead - 1st October 2020

28 July 2020

We’ve always known how important face-to-face communication is for business. But if the last four months have taught us anything, it’s how important physical social interaction is for company culture, morale, motivation and inspiration too. A huge percentage of us are now working from home and suddenly, the day-to-day interactions with colleagues and clients have been reduced to video calls and emails and we’re starting to feel the effects.

The truth is, we’re craving social interaction and an escape from our everyday routine. 1 in 5 people working from home have reported a sense of loneliness whilst 22% of people say they struggle to switch off at the end of the day (source).

So for almost all of us, the news that business events and conferences are set to return by the 1st October 2020 is music to our ears. It’s predicted that remote working will continue for a lot of industries so we’re expecting live events to fill that gap for companies looking to reconnect with colleagues and customers in a safe and engaging way.

But whilst we’re all eager to network and make the most of being together again, safety is still a number one priority and there’s a new set of government guidelines for us event planners to adhere to.

Venues that tick all the boxes

It won’t come as a surprise that live events as we knew them are going to look and feel a little bit different.

For the most part, these are things we have already adopted – such as paperless events and contactless registration systems – but there are a handful of new guidelines which we have integrated into the planning process. To read the full list of government guidelines, click here, or speak to the Inconnection Team who know the full detail.

A huge part of the planning process is of course, the venue find. Finding the ideal venue is crucial for any event, but even more so now that we must also consider things such as social distancing and limited capacity.

Fortunately, we have remained in constant contact with venues and suppliers throughout lockdown so we know how they are planning to adapt and the types of events they are able to cater for. In some cases, we have even made reservations with certain venues that already have things in place to give our clients the best chance of making bookings for late 2020 and 2021.

To speak to us about the venues we currently have on hold, or to find out how we can help you find a venue that fits your brief and the new guidelines, speak to a member of the team now.
