Turkey - the Fantastic Destination for Meetings, Incentives & Team Building

6 July 2015

It might seem like a long way to travel to the crossroads of Europe and Asia but a team building event based in Turkey can be a unique experience. Most people tend to think of Istanbul when they come to Turkey and you can see why. Istanbul is a truly magnificent city, forming the bridge between Europe and Asia, and in fact it's the location of one of our past incentives. A place that some might not have heard of or even thought of as an incentive destination is Antalya, based on the South coast of Turkey. A quick glance at Wikipedia will give you an overview on the history and geography of this place, so there's no need for me to talk about that. What our client wanted to combine was meetings, team building and CSR activities for a small group. Antalya was able to host all three so what did we do to suit all three elements?

Meetings

All the meetings took place at the group's accommodation, the Mandarin Palace Antalya. Located at the beautiful shore of the Mediterranean Sea in the Lara region, the most luxurious hotel in the Mediterranean region comprises on 546 unique rooms and suites. State-of-art designed function rooms, world class service levels and catering services all exceed client expectations.

Team Building

Our team building choice was a canyoning & rafting combination located in Koprulu Kanyon National Park. This is a great combination of two exciting and challenging activities. Canyoning involves walking, swimming, jumping, sliding and diving all in one activity, but not all together at the same time! This is a proper outdoor adventure activity where our group enjoyed walking between high gorge walls, swimming through cracks and tunnels, jumping from different heights into the natural rock pools and sliding over the cascades and waterfall. Oh and white water rafting activity is... white water rafting of course!

CSR Activity

The CSR activity we arranged for our client was based in a local orphanage in Antalya. We arranged for the group to visit a children's home called Aycov (Antalya Orphans House), where they needed help with upgrading their play area and garden. The establishment serves by giving pre-school education to hundreds of children aged between 3-6 and 7-12 without charge. The CSR activity involved the team physically participating and spending half a day with the children, hosting breakfast and planting flowers in the garden. A donation ran alongside this activity; mainly to facilitate the activity (buying flowers, seeds, spades, soil etc.) and part of the funds were channelled to the building of a canopy shade that overlooks the garden which the home was in vital need of for the summer.
