So tuck your napkins into your collar and ask the waiter for a wine menu, let’s dive into the world’s 10 hottest restaurants for 2018.

1. Pollen St Social – London

One Michelin Star, 5 AA Rosettes, and 9/10 and 'Best Front of House' from The Good Food Guide tells you a lot of what you need to know about Jason Atherton's first restaurant. It's exceptionally central - a short walk from Oxford Circus - and it boasts London's first dessert bar, as well as outstanding modern British cuisine from one of the country’s most exciting chefs.

2. Claude Bosi at Bibendum – London

It's been at the heart of London's food scene for 30 years - but under Claude Bosi, Bibendum has been reborn. These days it's fast gaining a reputation for intelligent, flavour-first takes on classic French cuisine in a setting with real impact. Well worth taking colleagues, partners or clients out to Chelsea for if you’ve got the budget.

3. Norn - Edinburgh

Edinburgh's current hottest ticket, Norn is all about local, seasonal food in relaxed, comfortable surroundings. There’s not a battered Mars Bar in sight, thanks to charming, inspired chef and owner Scott Smith, formerly of the Peat Inn. It’s also more budget-friendly that you might expect - four courses for £40, seven for £65. Hard to beat.

4. Clover Grill - Paris

Clover Grill is a laid-back, high-end steak house in the vibrant heart of Paris. Steps from the river, Notre Dame and the Pompidou Centre, this is the latest outlet for Le Grand Restaurant's Jean-François Piège. The service and food are exceptional, the setting ideal for groups. Piège has taken a humble steakhouse and made it into one of the world’s hottest restaurants.

5. Zass – Positano, Italy

We mentioned an Italian meal overlooking the sea in Positano as a highlight in our Spotlight on... Incentives in Italy – and this is the place to do it. Michelin-starred Zass is ideally placed in the Amalfi Coast's most picturesque location - and it makes the most of its views with an unforgettable water-side terrace.

 6. Rhoda – Hong Kong

18 months in, and Rhoda is still generating a huge amount of buzz. Chef Nate Green (formerly of HK favourite 22 Ships) creates comforting cuisine over open charcoal fires in an impressive, industrial setting. It's a restaurant made for group eating - the food is unreal, and the best seats in the house are all around the central open kitchen.

7. Gaggan – Bangkok, Thailand

Gaggan has topped the list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants for three consecutive years – and it's easy to see why. Chef Gaggan Anand’s restaurant is all about the experience, with mind-blowing Indian fusion dishes served as quick bites across a 2-3 hour visit. Gaggan is set to close in 2020 when Anand moves to Fukuoka, Japan - visit while it's still there.

 8. Indian Accent – New Delhi, India

Indian Accent is the hottest restaurant in India –  the only restaurant in India to feature in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017, and the winner of the San Pellegrino Best Restaurant in India Award for three consecutive years. Forget about the branches in London and New York, the New Delhi flagship is the real deal.

9. Odette – Singapore

This elegant French restaurant is ideally placed for incentive groups and business visitors, housed in the National Gallery in the heart of downtown Singapore. Within a year of opening Odette had been awarded two Michelin stars, and it recently appeared at No. 9 on the Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list - the highest new entry ever.

10. Le Coucou – New York, USA

The first stateside restaurant from Daniel Rose is an ode to all that is good about traditional French cuisine. It’s well placed in Manhattan's fashionable Soho, and the restaurant space is phenomenal - an impressive, soaring room with glass chandeliers, decadently designed by architects Roman and Williams.
