Spotlight on... Corporate Sailing Experiences
12 July 2017
Corporate sailing experiences offer an exhilarating option for team-building or incentive groups - even if no one in your group has ever stepped foot on a boat before.
Corporate sailing experiences are generally aboard fully crewed boats, with experienced skippers and hosting staff ensuring your group is comfortable. Teams have the chance to learn, work and cement valuable relationships as they handle sails, work hard on winches and take the helm to steer the yacht, all in jaw-dropping locations.
For large groups, hiring multiple boats offers the opportunity for exciting races, creating a memorable and effective team-building event that emphasises team work and communication.

The Solent, UK
solentThe home of British sailing is a short drive or train journey from London, and accessible from most major UK cities via Southampton Airport.
Home to Cowes Week, the oldest and largest sailing regatta in the world, exceptional corporate sailing experiences are available on the Solent year round.
Sailing day experiences can start from a number of South Coast ports to suit, including Southampton (for Southampton Airport) and Portsmouth (for quick rail connections to London Waterloo).
Itineraries can be tailored, but a typical day experience will start with a safety brief before a morning of learning the ropes, getting familiar with the boat and running some exercises. Lunch may be catered on board, or at a South Coast or Isle of Wight yacht club. The afternoon will be spent with smaller groups sailing time trials (a timed run around the Isle of Wight is a classic route), and larger groups racing against each other across a number of boats.
The French Riviera
French_RivieraThe French Riviera has a huge amount to offer corporate incentive groups – including world-class corporate sailing experiences. Step onto a yacht in Cannes, Nice, Monaco, St Tropez, St Maxime or St Raphael for a day of team-building sailing lessons with your group, or change the pace of your incentive trip and opt for a crewed charter, kick back with cocktails and soak up the sun, sea and surroundings.
The French Riviera offers a huge breadth of corporate sailing experiences, with yachts of any size offering luxurious cruising, sailboats for smaller group lessons and races, motorboats for leisurely exploring and sightseeing excursions, and speedboats for adrenaline-pumping, wave-crashing rushes.
Menorca & the Balearic Islands, Spain
Around two hours direct from London, Menorca is one of the smaller Balearic islands - but it has the beaches and the sailing to make up for its diminutive size. Corporate sailing experiences here are a great add-on option for incentive trips to nearby Ibiza – Menorca is less than 50 mins away by hopper flight.
Corporate sailing experiences here generally operate out of Mahon Harbour - 3.5 miles of sheltered water ideal for beginners. From there, excursions out around the island usually take in some of the island's 40 or more sheltered coves and hidden beaches. The island itself also offers winding, cobbled towns, great beaches and lively resorts.
Croatia
A few years ago Dubrovnik was enjoyed a huge boom as an incentive destination thanks to Croatia's 'New Riviera' reputation, beautiful coast, Mediterranean climate and great bars, restaurants and entertainment offering.
While its popularity has seen those in the know looking for less-frequented destinations, Croatia still offers incredible corporate sailing experiences. The Croatian Adriatic is home to almost 1200 islands, and there are some exceptional 3-4 day explorer cruises available for incentive groups. Other options include chartering a yacht and sailing to the popular island of Hvar - an affluent and buzzing summer resort with great nightlife and beautiful beaches, and a great base for exploring the secluded coves of the nearby Pakleni Islands.
