Crunching the Numbers: SITE's Incentive Travel Efficacy Study

A 2015 study by the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE), The Participants’ Viewpoint of the Incentive Travel Market in the United Kingdom, took a closer look at how and why incentive travel is such an effective motivator in the UK.

The study’s findings included:

• UK employees said that incentive travel made them feel appreciated (87.5%), increased loyalty(80%), “belongingness” (78%) and trust (75%) towards their company. 
  
  
• Unsurprisingly, more incentive attendees found incentive travel programmes motivating or extremely motivating (76%) vs. non-attendees. Yet a large majority (62%) of those who did not earn the reward still found the programmes motivational. 
  
  
• Both incentive attendees and non-attendees (67%) reported their level of motivation increased whether a new program offered the same or different destination, but motivation spiked by changing the destination annually.
  
  
• Unique, once-in-a-liftetime experiences were a key selling point, with 71% of participants saying that incentive travel rewards provided unique experiences that they would not have otherwise.
